Tip Tuesday-Healthy Habits for Living Now Offered!

Healthy habits for living is an approach that provides a customized and unique solution to weight-loss and other chronic disease by coaching individuals in appropriate and effective skills in exercise, basic nutrition and mental strategies to achieve and maintain these changes for life.

The program is offered by Karin Williamsen, PTA, Health Coach educated through Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise.

The type of patient that would benefit is anyone who suffers from any chronic disease, including obesity, joint pain, arthritis, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, hypothyroidism, PCOS, Bariatric surgery rehab and COPD to name a few.

The program starts with an evaluation which includes medical and health history form and measurements in height, weight, body fat, body water, and blood pressure. There is one on one discussion of goals. The evaluation includes strength, flexibility, and endurance testing.

The treatment plan is 2 -3 days a week for 12 weeks-14 weeks. Interventions include therapeutic exercise and activity to promote improvement in function, educational interventions of basic non medical nutrition, behavior change techniques, cognitive strategies to promote positive health behaviors and increase daily activity and promote weight-loss, decrease inflammation, and decrease prevalence of and risk factors for chronic disease.

Each session includes cardio exercise, total body strength training, flexibility, lifestyle education(basic nutrition,disease mgmt,stress mgmt) which will be during the exercise session.
