Tip Tuesday! Flu Prevention

Tip Tuesday! Flu Season is upon us! We wanted to share some tips for how to help build up your immune system to give your body a fighting chance.

The lymph system is the bodies mechanism for defense. Lymph circulates freely through the body bathing cells in nutrients and oxygen and collecting harmful materials for disposal. The lymphatic system supports every other system in the body.

The lymph is totally dependent on physical activity to move throughout the body. Vigorous exercise like jogging or rebounding is reported to increase lymph flow by 15 to 30 times.

Other strategies to boost your immune system include:

-don’t smoke
-eat a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
-eat a diet with low saturated fats and avoid processed foods
-exercise regularly
-maintain a healthy weight
-control your blood pressure
-drink alcohol only in moderation
-get adequate sleep

Remember to also prevent infection by frequent hand washing!

What will you do this flu season to protect yourself?

Don’t forget tomorrow is a dress up day! We will be dressing in red, white, and blue in honor of our Veterans!
