Pendulum Exercises

Pendulum exercises are often prescribed following shoulder surgery by the physician.

They should be completed 5 times a day in 5-10 minute sessions.

Bend at the waist so that the arm is dangling down. You may want to hold a table or chair for support. Place one foot in front of the other. Gently rock your body weight from your forward to backward so that your arm moves in a straight line. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU USE YOUR BODY WEIGHT TO MOVE YOUR ARM. Do this 15-20 times.

Bend at the waist so that the arm is dangling down. You may want to hold a table or chair for support. Place your feet side by side shoulder width apart. Gently rock your body weight from your left to right so that your arm moves side to side. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU USE YOUR BODY WEIGHT TO MOVE YOUR ARM. Do this 15-20 times.

Gently rock your body weight from in clockwise circles so that your arm moves in a circle. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU USE YOUR BODY WEIGHT TO MOVE YOUR ARM. Do this 15-20 times. Repeat with counterclockwise circles.
