Pediatric What to Expect

What to expect during your treatment at Paramount

First Visit – The Evaluation

Arrive 15 minutes early in order to complete forms detailing your child’s medical history.

Bring the following items:

  • Picture identification
  • Insurance identification card
  • The name and birthdate of the person who is the insurance holder
  • Any written instructions and prescription from your physician
  • Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

During the evaluation at Paramount Children’s Therapy, caregivers can expect to meet with their child and the pediatric therapist to discuss their concerns regarding the child’s development. The therapist will use a variety of standardized assessments and clinical observation to develop with caregivers a treatment plan and goals for improved function in all areas of development. The therapist will then discuss with you their recommended frequency and duration of treatment sessions.

Typically, the evaluation will take from 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Second (and Later) Visits

Your therapist works in collaboration with you and your child, and physicians to create your customized treatment plan. We will develop and provide you with a home exercise program that helps your child to reach the maximum potential to reach the goals set at the evaluation. Therapists will use a variety of toys, games, and activities to engage your child in play-based therapy to progress toward their goals. Treatment sessions at Paramount can include activities within the sensory gym equipped with various swings, a ball pit, a rock climbing wall, and a calming light room.
